Small Homemade Saunas Built from a Kit

Small homemade saunas are easy to build when you purchase a kit. Kits for small sauna rooms can be assembled in just a few hours, even by someone with low skill levels. The pre-built and pre-assembled wall panels, benches, doors and accessories are shipped to your door in a series of boxes. You just follow the detailed step-by-step instructions showing you how to build the sauna from setting up the first wall section to installing the heater.

A small 4’ x 4’ room with an infrared sauna heater will cost you less than $3000 which is probably a better deal than a homemade version built from scratch. The pre-built sauna rooms can be assembled in less than an hour without any special tools. These prefabricated home saunas can be set up indoors or outdoors with the addition of a roof. All that is needed is a level, waterproof surface for installation of the kit.

If you are a do-it-yourselfer and up to the challenge, you can save even more by using a precut sauna kit to construct a small sauna room that is partially homemade. There is a major difference between a pre-built and a precut kit. Pre-built saunas are self-contained, freestanding rooms. The precut version is installed inside an insulated frame that you must construct yourself. You will need framing studs, R 12 insulation for the walls and ceiling and the outside paneling.

Keep in mind that pre-built modular saunas are only available in the dimensions available from the manufacturer. If you want to convert an existing room into a small sauna it is best to order a precut kit which can be custom-cut to your specifications. This will save you a lot of work over a homemade sauna. You can easily do all the work yourself, with the exception of hooking up the electric heater which is best done by an electrician.
