Outdoor Sauna Plans and Kits
If you are planning on building your own sauna, have a look
at some of the outdoor sauna plans and precut sauna kits that make
construction easy and straightforward. Saunas are becoming popular in North
America and manufacturers have filled the demand by offering a large
selection of kits for both indoor and
outdoor family saunas.
An outdoor sauna kit is easy to assemble with the included plans and
instructions. You can choose between precut
sauna kits and pre-built modular
saunas. The difference is in the amount of prefabrication that has gone
into the kit. Precut material packages contain items such as
tongue-and-groove cedar boards for the walls and ceiling, pre-cut benches,
the door, heater and accessories. The builder needs to plan and construct an
insulated frame on a poured concrete pad if the kit is to be assembled
outdoors.
Pre-built modular kits make planning and building saunas outdoors a feasible
project even for inexperienced builders. Have a contractor pour the concrete
slab in the dimensions of the kit. Lay out the floor frame and start by
sliding the pre-built wall panels onto the floor frame. Most manufacturers
make panels that easily lock into place. Pre-assembled benches and pre-hung
doors make assembly of your outdoor sauna a snap. Plan on getting an
electrician to wire in the heater and your project is completed.

Make sure you treat the exterior walls with a waterproof stain or use cedar
paneling which contains natural mildicides and fungicides to prevent decay.
