Infrared Sauna Kits – Build a Sauna on a Weekend

Infrared sauna kits allow anyone with medium building skills to get a sauna up and running in as little as a weekend. These kits can be installed indoors or outdoors in any suitably sized room or cabin and contain all the material needed for a complete sauna that includes the heater and all necessary hardware for the installation. An infra-red sauna doesn’t require much room either – a 16 sq. ft. area is sufficient for a small indoor sweat room.

Kits for indoor infrared saunas come in poplar or cedar and are affordably priced. These so-called precut sauna kits are considerably cheaper than prefabricated or pre-built units as some of the work has to be done by yourself, saving you money in the process. Infra-red saunas can be installed indoors in places such as the bathroom, bedroom, basement or garage. A pre-cut kit is also suitable for outdoor installations with the addition of a roof and treatment of the exterior.

All infrared and conventional sauna kits need to flat, waterproof surface for indoor and outdoor installations. Tiled surfaces, linoleum and concrete are perfect for building. Simple carpentry tools such as a hammer, saw, square, tape, screwdriver and miter box is all that is needed to assemble the indoor home sauna. You have your choice of heater that includes infra-red elements, wood- burning stoves or electric sauna room heaters.

Know the difference between precut sauna kits and pre-built modular saunas before you purchase the infra-red kit. Precut material packages require an existing room or the construction of an insulated frame since the material is only for the inside of the sauna. Modular or prefabricated indoor saunas are freestanding rooms that come with the wall and ceiling panels pre-assembled for quick and easy construction. These kits are more expensive but a great alternative if you lack basic carpentry skills or you want to get your infrared sauna up and running within 1 – 2 hours.
