Definite Link between Fitness, Saunas and Health
Exercise and eating right aren’t the only things that can
contribute to fitness. Saunas, steam baths, massage and a host of
other holistic approaches to caring for the body can contribute to your
improved health and well-being. Many doctors now recommend a sauna bath,
massage therapy or acupuncture to relieve stress on joints and promote
detoxification of the body.
Soothe Tires Muscles in a Sauna
This link between good health, fitness and saunas isn’t new - in Japan and
Finland, they have been used for thousands of years to stimulate the release
of toxins from the body and soothe tired, aching muscles. The effects aren’t
just physical, either. Studies have shown that mental stress and tension
drain away when lounging in a sauna.
Sauna Heat and Sports Injuries
Fitness trainers often use a combination of time in the sauna and massage
therapy to loosen up tight muscles and relax the joints. Sauna heat can also
stimulate blood flow in order to hasten the healing of sports injuries.
Often fitness instructors and personal trainers will suggest a few minutes
in a sauna to loosen up the muscles before a workout, and then another ten
minutes or so after a workout in order to relax the muscles and help with
stretching before hitting the showers.
If you are designing a home gym, you should install a sauna in order to give
you a truly complete fitness regimen that will improve the health of not
only your body, but your skin, organs and mental outlook as well.
